2019 Call for Proposals for Graduate Poster Session

The University of Iowa Music Education Area invites graduate student proposals for the 2019 meeting of the Big Ten Academic Alliance Music Education Conference in Iowa City, IA on October 16-18, 2019. The poster session will be held on the afternoon of Thursday, October 17, 2019.

Session Format and Guidelines:
Presentations may be: (a) reports of completed research; (b) research in progress; (c) literature reviews; (d) position papers on critical issues in music education; or (e) presentations of “promising” music education practices. Posters should be approximately 36” x 48” in size. Magnetic display boards and magnets will be provided. There will be a limited number of spaces for individuals to set up laptops in lieu of a poster.

Proposal Procedures: Proposals must be no more than 500 words and submitted as a .docx attachment via email to the BTAA Program Committee (adam-harry@uiowa.edu) on or before September 15, 2019. Do not include authors’ names on proposal documents or file names.

The cover email should include your presentation format preference (poster only, laptop only, or either), the names and institutional affiliations of all presenters, and a brief 30-60 word  description of the presentation/poster for the conference program.

Proposals should include:

  1. Title

  2. Purpose of the poster/presentation

  3. Brief discussion of past research related to the topic (if appropriate)

  4. Mode of inquiry for research or program description for “promising” practices presentations

  5. Sources of data or evidence

  6. Findings or results

  7. Conclusions and recommendations
